About Us

Who We Are

A Town-and-Gown agenda, institutionalised.

The historical trajectory of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is a Siamese twin with the industrial development and technological evolution of the Nigerian State. From inception in 1947, the institution has been popular for providing the required technical and vocational training through teaching, learning and research to fast track the industry growth and development of the country. For over seven decades, YABATECH has consistently served as an impetus towards the growth and development of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

The rapidly evolving demands of the 21st-century workforce require graduates who are not only academically grounded but also demonstrably industry-ready (employable). Yaba College of Technology has institutionalised its Town-and-Gown agenda through the establishment of the Center for Linkages, Partnerships & International Relations (CLPIR) by a visionary leader per excellence, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul's led Administration in 2023.

CLPIR was established towards actualising the administrative "ERECT" agenda, with special focus on industry partnerships and collaborations through the creation of CLPIR and other functional structures such as the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and STBI HUBS. CLPIR serves as the College's central platform for integrating industry, academia, and community engagement into a cohesive ecosystem — ensuring industry participation is embedded across all Schools and Departments.

track_changes Our Core Objectives

The primary objective of the Center is to promote strong collaboration between academia, industry and the global community, while enhancing student employability through practical training and exposure, and increasing research capacity through continual training and human development programmes. This includes facilitating internships, industrial attachments (SIWES/IT), mentorship programmes and international training programmes — producing world class graduates.
